Nature Play Playground, Ipswich Adventist School Kindergarten

The Kindergarten at Ipswich Adventist Kindergarten wanted to develop a Nature Play Playground for their play space. While the large playground housed some amazing mature trees, the existing playground lacked some play elements to activate all types of play for the students.

After consultation with staff the re-design focused on increasing the play value of the space by incorporating key items which will help students gross and fine motor skills. These included bike path, swing, slide and balancing courses all using natural elements. These items combined with the creating teaching and learning spaces will allow teachers to change them over time.

Multiple areas for creative play including dry and wet creek beds, mud and sand play, painting, drawing and large areas of planting and trees for students to explore have been created.  Allowing students to develop a play journey in the space.
