Cairns International Airport is a major gateway for tourists into Far North Queensland. Orterra was asked to created a design strategy for the airport to provide the principles for design as a starting point for consultants charged with renovations and building projects in the landscape and roads around the International Terminal Building. The document was to set the standard for the revitilisation of future renovations of the precinct.
The materials, planting and artwork were selected to reflect each of Far North Queensland’s rich landscapes in different areas of the terminal, from the rainforest to the reef, coast and mangroves.
