This beautiful project for Petrie Terrace State School was a celebration of their Little Town and the suburb in which is resides. When Orterra started working with the school they had several areas which were not working for the school and some areas that needed repair. They wanted to create a more pedestrian friendly and inviting entry to the school. While increasing their playground space which is very restricted for this school.
Through collaboration with The Village Architect we developed a roof language which spoke to the schools moto of Our Little Town. By creating a main street from the road to the administration building with plenty of outdoor teaching spaces. Areas for parents to wait and talk during school pick up and drop off. We also created a new area perfect for loose parts play as well as redeveloping a space outside their art room which was used as a storage area into a amphitheatre seating and teaching space.
