Orterra was approached by LORDS to assist with creating a concept design for the kindergarten, LORDS Little Wonders, which will increase the play value of the playground and create a welcoming entrance space specific to the kindergarten.
This design aims to create spaces children can be outdoors and interact with in a variety of ways. The concept design is based on the LORDS teachings of growth through play, nature, laughter, character building, and experiences through learning which support the basis for development through the schooling years. The design focuses on supporting a child’s individual social and emotional development whilst increasing creativity, curiosity and gross and fine motor skills within the outdoor environment.
This design for the LORDS Little Wonders is based on integration between these teachings and current research into outdoor education and natural play spaces. It has been developed with the input of centre staff.
